Not long now folks!

It’s not long now everyone until the walking festival kicks off this weekend. Join us for a soft launch at the Poachers Inn on Friday evening where you can meet some of the team and talk about the walks over a drink.

Whilst it might be a bit blustery today, the weather for next week is looking lovely. Fingers crossed. There are still a few tickets left for the coach trip walks this weekend:

https://bollingtonwalkingfestival.co.uk/home/walks/?mc_id=66

The first is a 7 mile walk back from Whaley Bridge. The second is a longer 13 mile walk from Hayfield over Chinley Churn. The views from the later will be spectacular if not a little windy šŸ™‚

There are also a couple of tickets left for the “Working up a Thirst” walk and visit to Torrside Brewery. This is a 10 mile walk – it says “Strenuous” but it’s not that bad! Gradual climb up to the Bowstones Ridge and then it’s *mainly* downhill, well apart from Black Hill. The bus returns to Bollington at 4:30pm and 5:30pm. There isn’t a tour at the brewery – we’re just there to enjoy the beer. But book soon as the last few tickets will soon go for this fun event:

See you all over the next week!

Launch of the walking festival 2018

Hot news everyone – the leaflets for this years’ walks are going out for distribution as I type. Plus this website has been updated with all the walks. Some of the walks require pre-booking so get your tickets booked ASAP to avoid disappointment.

We’re also having a social event at the Poachers Inn this year on the Friday to soft-launch the festival. Come along and meet the team.

That’s it for 2017!

A big thank you to everyone who came along on the walks for another very successful festival. A big thanks also to the volunteers who gave up their time to help out.

If you could take a few minutes to complete the survey:

Although it looks like it’s just for visitors, we’d appreciated everyone completing it.

Finally, if you have any photos that you’re okay with us adding to the website, please email them to:

Working up a thirst 2017

Some details on Saturday’s walk to Wincle brewery. It’s a total sell out with not only the Rainow bus doing two trips back but the Bollington Real Ale Ramblers have also laid on a minibus with another 15 thirsty walkers. We may also have a handful of people who are making their own return arrangements. The walk is being lead by Steve from the Bollington Real Ale Ramblers.

Now the weather… we’ve been very lucky this week again but the weather is getting more changeable as hurricane Maria moves in. As of writing the forecast has improved from rain to “A shower in the morning; otherwise, intervals of clouds and sunshine” but please dress for wet weather. A change of clothes might be sensible if you want to carry them. Or at least a pair of dry socks šŸ˜‰

We’re hoping to stop off at the Hanging Gate at around 12:30pm to eat your packed lunch but that’s yet to be confirmed. We plan to get to the brewery at ~2:30pm.

The brewery have confirmed they will have lots of beer ready for you. One assumes they’ll have some soft drinks as well but if not, you could always nip up the road to the Ship Inn. IĀ think they have credit card facilities but better be safe than sorry and take cash.

The Rainow bus will be returning to Bollington at 4:30pm and 5:30pm taking 15 people each time. We’re hoping that natural selection will kick in otherwise we’ll have to pull straws to decide who goes back first šŸ™‚ The bus will be dropping off at the Poachers Inn and the team are primed for those of you who want another drink. The Bolly ramblers minibus is departing at 5:45pm.

Here’s to a good day out in the hills! Hic…
